This half-day course will explore the foundational knowledge of science contained in the ‘Understanding the world’ area of the revised EYFS Statutory Framework and Development Matters.
It will provide an opportunity for EYFS practitioners and science subject leaders to develop a shared understanding of good practice in the inclusion of science learning in the EYFS.
It will also provide EYFS practitioners and science subject leaders with the opportunity to explore new resources that support the inclusion of the foundational knowledge within EYFS planning and develop a shared understanding of progression.
he aims of this course are:
- to develop a shared understanding between subject leaders and EYFS practitioners of good practice in the inclusion of science learning in the EYFS
- to understand the progression of the foundational knowledge of science in the EYFS and how this links to learning in Key Stage 1 and beyond
- to explore how new resources can support the inclusion of the foundational knowledge of science
- for subject leaders, to develop a good understanding of the revised EYFS Statutory Framework and Development Matters and the science contained within the ‘Understanding the world’ area.
