HSIS Assessment - New to Year 6: Preparing for end of Key Stage Assessment

14/10/2025 13:00 - 16:00

Level: Experienced

This course is intended for Year 6 teachers, including ECT's who are new to administering or coordinating end of Key Stage 2 assessments. Some more experienced teachers may also feel that it is important to update their knowledge and understanding.

The course provides opportunities to become familiar with the current statutory requirements in relation to end of Key Stage 2 assessment and to discuss related issues. In particular schools need to ensure they are aware of national criteria and standards when making judgements. Therefore the course will also include opportunities to discuss and standardise nationally agreed samples of children's work.

How will the pupils benefit?

Children's learning will be accurately assessed and used to inform:

  • effective planning of Y6 teaching
  • reliable assessment of pupils' work
  • appropriate preparation for KS2 tests

......which should ensure a smooth transition for all pupils to their next stage of learning
